The Snowball Picks Up Momentum

snowball    I’ve been pushing this snowball all by myself for a few months now, figuring I could do it all. Well, turns out that this is a much bigger project than I ever had planned. And, suddenly, I am meeting people who are excited about The Swiss Avenue Project and want to help.

That help is shaping up to be of both the official and the unofficial variety. It’s amazing what happens when you peel yourself away from the computer and get out and meet people. Of necessity, I spend a lot of time in front of my Mac creating the final images you see here on the site. But getting out and meeting people on my walk through the District photographing homes has been the key to making things happen.

What a joy it is to share what I’m doing with the people I meet. So many have expressed enthusiasm for the project and a few have actively recommended it to their neighbors as they’ve walked by. What a great feeling that is.

Actually, it’s a much better feeling than being caught in the rain at the far end of Swiss. I learned something this evening — even pea-sized hail hurts when struck by it in sufficient quantities.

But I digress.

I’m continuing my efforts to photograph the entire Historic District before the Mother’s Day Tour of Homes. That means lots of late nights and extra hours in front of the computer but as long as I keep meeting people on Swiss Avenue I’ll keep the momentum up so I can finish this phase of the project by my deadline.
