New Photos In/Old Photos Lost — Sorta
Back in May, I had a hard drive failure that caused me to literally start over shooting every home and business again. I’ve since taken measures that will prevent that sort of thing from happening again. Short of a nuclear or EMP attack, I should be good to go, though I’m ever on the lookout for hard drives that might fail.
That said, I’ve re-shot virtually every home and business, people park and dog park, church and nightclub, on Swiss Avenue and added new people shots wherever I can. And I will continue shooting, getting fresher angles on everything as the seasons change and the foliage falls to reveal what summer hides.
I want very much to flesh out the project with interesting details from both exteriors and interiors. To do this, I need your help. . . and your permission. I’ve been very respectful of people’s property and only step off the sidewalk if I have spoken to the owner and have been given the okay to step closer so I can get a better photo of exterior details. But the real “gold” is inside. I’m not looking to shoot Architectural Digest-style interiors; that’s really beyond the scope of the project. What I would like to do is to photograph small details that will really enrich the project. It could be a small architectural detail — a frieze, a doorway, a mantel. Or it could be a piece of furniture, a sculpture, or a stained glass window.
So, I’d like to ask expressly that you seek me out — by phone, email, or even on the street when I’m shooting — and let me know you’d like to have me photograph your favorite details in or around your home. If you know of an event taking place on Swiss (or nearby) that I may have overlooked, please contact me and let me know about it.
Thanks to everyone who has helped and/or encouraged me in this. Without you, I’d still be walking Swiss Avenue only for the exercise.
