The Swiss Avenue Project wouldn’t have been possible to undertake without the help of many people. Some of those people merely pointed me to those who might be willing to help. I’ve learned over the years that that simple act can be as valuable as any other type of assistance. To all of you, I offer my sincerest gratitude.

The links to the ABC 20/20 story are here and here and here. You can also read the story by the Dallas Morning News. The struggle between family and predatory antique dealers over the mansion on Swiss Avenue reads like a gothic novel. Explore, through multimedia, this tragic story; see videos, and view new photos that tell the tale of Mary Ellen Bendtsen and 4949 Swiss Avenue. The Dallas Observer ran a story on the subject, too. When you're finished, come back to explore the neighborhood where Mary Ellen lived.

Okay, this is a blatant plug for my sister’s thriving home decoration and remodeling business in East Texas. My sis is the best and without her encouragement during my recovery from throat and neck cancer surgery, I would not have even thought about taking on a project of this size and scope.

Her company, WindowDressing, is a growing East Texas firm that does great work at a fair price and gives great customer service, too. Check them out.

DART's new Green Line intersects Swiss Avenue on Good-Latimer at the Deep Ellum Station. Several people were instrumental in cutting through the red tape to allow me to shoot some amazing 360° panoramic photos (coming soon to this website). A big "Thank you!" goes to Michael Miles, DART President Gary Thomas, Chairman of the Board Randall Chrisman — and Lupe Hernandez, who got the ball rolling. We look forward to the completion of the entire line, which will stretch from Buckner and Elam all the way to Carrollton, near Frankford.
